6-Colour Ink System for Photo Printing
Unlike conventional 4-colour CMYK printers, the Epson L8050 and L18050 utilise a 6-colour ink system.
In addition to Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow, the system includes:
Light Cyan
Helps produce smoother transitions in lighter blue and cyan tones.
Light Magenta
Helps improve lighter red, pink, and skin-tone gradations.
The additional Light Cyan and Light Magenta inks allow the printer to reproduce smoother colour gradients and more natural-looking photographic output.
This makes the 057 ink system particularly suitable for:
✔ Photo printing
✔ Portraits
✔ Photography
✔ Graphic designs
✔ Colour artwork
✔ Marketing materials
✔ Creative projects
✔ High-quality borderless prints

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How much ink is in each Compatible Epson 057 bottle?
Each bottle contains 70ml of ink.
A complete 6-colour set therefore contains:
70ml × 6 colours = 420ml total ink
Which printers are compatible with Epson 057 ink?
This Compatible Epson 057 ink is designed for:
- Epson EcoTank L8050
- Epson EcoTank L18050
How many colours are in the Epson 057 ink system?
The Epson 057 series uses six colours:
- Black
- Cyan
- Magenta
- Yellow
- Light Cyan
- Light Magenta
The additional Light Cyan and Light Magenta inks help provide smoother colour transitions for photographic printing.
Why does this printer use six colours instead of four?
Standard colour printers commonly use four colours: Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow.
Photo-oriented printers can use additional lighter inks to improve colour gradation and photographic output.
The Light Cyan and Light Magenta inks help the printer reproduce lighter tones without relying entirely on combinations of the darker Cyan and Magenta inks.
This is particularly useful for photographs, portraits, gradients, and images containing subtle colour transitions.
Can I replace only one colour?
Yes.
Each colour is supplied separately, so you only need to refill the colour that is running low.
There is no need to replace all six colours at the same time.
Is this original Epson 057 ink?
No. This is a premium compatible ink manufactured by a third-party manufacturer and formulated for use with supported Epson EcoTank printers.
It is not manufactured or endorsed by Epson.
Is Epson 057 suitable for photo printing?
Yes. The 057 ink system is designed for 6-colour photo-oriented printing.
The combination of CMYK with Light Cyan and Light Magenta provides a wider range of tonal transitions than a conventional 4-colour system, making it particularly suitable for photographs and colour-intensive creative applications.
Looking for Sublimation Ink?
We also carry Compatible Sublimation Ink specially formulated for heat transfer printing on fabrics, mugs, phone cases, and other sublimation blanks.
Please note that standard Compatible Epson 057 ink and sublimation ink are intended for different applications. Ensure that you select the correct ink type for your intended printing use.
